Men End FGM Movement

The Men End FGM programme is an initiative aimed at eliminating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) through the active involvement of men in both rural and urban communities. The project is designed to raise awareness, provide education, and advocate for policy changes that criminalize FGM while providing support for survivors.

By targeting key male influencers—Paramount Chiefs, religious leaders, teachers, and local authorities—the project seeks to shift cultural attitudes towards FGM and promote community-wide abandonment of the harmful practice.

Program Objectives:

  1. Raise Awareness: Inform men and key stakeholders about the health risks and socio-economic impacts of FGM, using data-driven education and sensitization initiatives.
  2. Community Mobilization: Create men's clubs in targeted chiefdoms to foster dialogue and advocacy against FGM.
  3. Policy Advocacy: Collaborate with policymakers to push for the enforcement of laws banning FGM.
  4. Survivor Support: Establish support systems for survivors of FGM, offering medical, psychological, and legal assistance.
