Youth Engagement And Participation

Africa is the second most populous continent in the world after Asia. The global statistics estimate that out of 1.5 billion people in Africa, at least 65% of them are under the age of 35 years. In Kenya, at least 75% of Kenya’s population are youth. Despite the youth constituting more than half the population in Africa, they are less involved in some of the decisions and policies that directly affect them. Harmful practices such as FGM and child marriage, Sexual Reproductive Health issues, mental health and drugs and substance abuse highly affect the youth directly.

MEF through our Youth Engagement and Participation program directly empowers youth in active engagement and participation in combating harmful practices, addressing SRHR issues, mental health as well as curb drugs and substance abuse. We engage and encourage youth participation through movement building, notably: #SasaNiSisi #TubongeNaComrades

Y4C Advocates

Youth-Led Advocacy Campaigns

The Y4C Advocates Project is an initiative aimed at engaging youths in Samburu and West Pokot in policy advocacy.

This project empowers young people to raise awareness about critical issues affecting their communities, develop policy proposals, and present these drafts to county leaders.

By involving youths in the policy-making process, the project seeks to foster a new generation of informed and active citizens committed to driving positive change.
